Install
Follow the shared Installing a theme guide to upload and activate the Quietus .zip in Ghost Admin. The steps below cover what to do immediately after activation.
First-run configuration
Section titled “First-run configuration”1. Set your homepage intro
Section titled “1. Set your homepage intro”In Ghost Admin, go to Settings → Design → Customize and set homepage_intro to a single sentence that describes your publication. This line appears beneath your site title on the homepage. Write it plainly — it is the first thing a new reader sees after your title.
The default value is “Essays written slowly, to be read slowly.” Replace it with something specific to your publication.
2. Set your signature
Section titled “2. Set your signature”signature is a short closing line shown in the footer on every page. It might be a principle, a phrase that characterises your work, or a simple goodbye. The default is “Written in stillness.”
This is optional — leave it blank to show no signature in the footer.
3. Review the accent color
Section titled “3. Review the accent color”accent_color defaults to sienna (#a5552f), which pairs well with the off-white background in Light mode. If your publication calls for a different palette, set a new hex value in Settings → Design → Customize. The accent is used sparingly — links, horizontal rules, and small typographic marks — so it reads as a tint rather than a dominant color.
4. Confirm the color scheme
Section titled “4. Confirm the color scheme”color_scheme defaults to Light. Switch to Dark for an inverse palette, or Auto to follow the reader’s operating system preference.
