Troubleshooting

Symptom: Photo captions are not visible beneath feature images even though you have entered caption text.

Causes and fixes:

  1. show_captions may be disabled. Go to Settings → Design → Customize and confirm that show_captions is enabled (the default is true).
  2. Confirm that you have entered the caption text in the correct field. In the Ghost editor, feature image captions are entered in the Caption field in the post settings panel, not in a separate caption card.
  3. Hard-refresh your browser after saving the setting (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows) to clear any cached preview state.

Section titled “Too many or too few photos per row in the gallery”

Symptom: The homepage gallery grid shows more or fewer images per row than you want.

Causes and fixes:

  1. Adjust the grid_density setting in Settings → Design → Customize. The options are Spacious (fewer, larger images per row), Balanced (the default), and Dense (more images per row).
  2. If the grid looks correct in the theme preview but not on the live site, clear your browser cache or test in a private window.

Symptom: The site appears in the wrong color mode — too dark for your preferences, or in Light mode when you expected Dark.

Causes and fixes:

  1. color_scheme defaults to Dark. If you want a lighter palette, go to Settings → Design → Customize and set color_scheme to Light.
  2. To follow each reader’s operating system preference automatically, set color_scheme to Auto. In Auto mode, readers on a system with dark mode enabled will see the dark palette; others will see the light palette.
  3. If color_scheme is set to Auto and the color mode seems wrong for a specific reader, the issue is likely with their browser or system configuration, not the theme setting.

Symptom: Changing the accent color has no visible effect, or the color shown in the theme does not match what you entered.

Causes and fixes:

  1. Ghost has a Brand color field under Settings → Design → Branding that is separate from the Silverpoint accent_color theme setting. The theme setting in Settings → Design → Customize takes precedence and is the correct place to set the Silverpoint accent.
  2. Confirm that the hex value is valid: six digits with a leading # (e.g. #b89b72).
  3. Hard-refresh after saving.

Symptom: Ghost Admin shows an error when you try to upload the theme .zip.

Causes and fixes:

Ghost expects the .zip to contain the theme files at the top level, not inside a subfolder. Re-download the theme from your Gumroad receipt and upload that file directly without extracting or re-compressing it.
